Swarm of bees delayed Matchbox 20 concert in Arizona

Aug. 4 (UPI) -- A swarm of thousands of bees descended on a Matchbox 20 concert at a casino in Arizona on Thursday night.

Lead singer Rob Thomas shared a photo of a beekeeper at the venue the AVA Amphitheater at the Casino Del Sol prior to the show.

"Beekeeper has arrived!" Thomas wrote. "Still trying to make this happen. Can't make this up!"

The massive bee swarm in delayed the concert for about an hour as beekeepers attempted to remove the bees.

Beekeepers arrived at the scene at about 8:30 p.m. and concertgoers were permitted to enter the venue at 9:15 p.m.

Pascua Yaqui Fire Department initially reported to the scene and Northwest Exterminating ultimately cleared the bees from the theater.

No one was hurt in the incident and reservation police said it was the first time something like this had occurred in the area.
