Aug. 4 (UPI) -- A Dutch man was arrested after police spotted him driving with a pair of stolen lamp posts on top of his car.

Lelystad police shared a photo of a small hatchback vehicle carrying the two long concrete poles on the side of a brick road.

Police pulled over the driver, traveling to Lelystad from Almere, and found he was guilty of several violations, including improperly transporting the likely stolen lamp posts.

"We start with the traffic violations. That the cargo should not be transported in this way must be clear. In addition, the car was not insured and the APK expired for more than three months," police said.

Police also found that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, but he refused to comply to a breathalyzer test.

"It is expected that justice will demand the highest possible penalty for driving under the influence of alcohol, because the defendant did not cooperate with the investigation," police said.

Upon investigating the origin of the lamp posts, police determined they were likely stolen from Almere and that the driver was guilty of other offenses such as fueling the vehicle without paying.

The driver was ultimately taken into custody and the vehicle was confiscated by police.
