Aug. 4 (UPI) -- A pair of California hikers jumped back into their car to escape a bear that approached another occupied vehicle and opened the driver's door.
The video, captured Monday in rural Orange County, shows the bear approaching a car occupied by an elderly couple at the side of the road.
The filmer said he and a friend had been preparing to go hiking, but they got back into the vehicle when they spotted the bear blocking their path.
"We were about to go hiking then this bear block our path so we jumped in the car and tried to scare it off. The elderly couple just sat there taking pictures," the filmer wrote.
The video shows the bear approach the car and stand on its hind legs next to the driver's side door. The couple eventually speed away from the scene when the bear opens the door.
