Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe Aug. 2 (UPI) -- A charter fishing boat off the California coast was treated to an unusual show when a mako shark hooked by an angler started leaping through the air. A video posted to Facebook by Dana Point Sportfishing shows footage filmed Monday aboard the San Mateo when crew members and guests were fishing for yellowtail. Advertisement Capt. Bo Daniel said all present were surprised to see a large mako shark hooked instead. "My deckhand Steven ran up to the bow with a mackerel and the fish bit it immediately, put on a hell of a show," Daniel told KABC-TV. The "show" involved the shark jumping through the air to escape from the line. "This giant almost did a back flip into the boat!" the Facebook post said.
