Ed Wolff said his son, Jake, was at the elephant exhibit Wednesday at the Texas zoo when Joy, an Asian elephant born at the facility July 12, squeezed underneath the lowest cable on the fence surrounding her enclosure, entering into a secure area for zookeepers between the enclosure and the public, KPRC reported. Zoo officials said the baby elephant never made it past the secondary enclosure fence and was not in any public areas before handlers ushered her back to her mother's side.
