July 28 (UPI) -- A straphanger on the New York City subway is drawing attention online after he was photographed holding a giant peacock on the train.

Matthew Chayes tweeted a photo he snapped Thursday on the uptown 3 train in Brooklyn showing a man holding the massive peacock, which reaches the floor with its tail feathers.

"Midday on the @NYCTSubway. Guy walks onto a train with this," Chayes tweeted.

The man was reportedly headed to a bar with the bird.

The unusual commuter has drawn attention online, although its fellow passengers seem altogether uninterested in the bird.

It was unclear whether the peacock was alive or taxidermied.
