July 28 (UPI) -- A Florida firefighter jumped into a bay to rescue a dog seen struggling to stay afloat after apparently falling into the water.

A video tweeted by Miami Beach Fire Rescue shows firefighter Emilio Sanchez swimming over to the dog in Biscayne Bay and bringing it back to shore.

"He was very exhausted, just by the way he was breathing, and he was already barely able to keep his head up out of the water. So I pretty much got there in good timing," Sanchez told WPLG-TV. "He was very eager to see me and he was happy I was there."

The dog, a mixed breed with no collar, was turned over to police, who were able to track down the canine's owner.

A second video tweeted by Miami Beach Fire Rescue shows the owner and canine, named Junior, reuniting at Miami Beach City Hall.
