"Our doofy son parked the car in an indoor parking garage, in the first floor (slightly lower/basement level) but that garage cannot now be located," the parents wrote. "Please respond with photos of the car and specific location instructions to claim the reward."
Armed with only the memory that the car had been parked "near a Starbucks where there is some construction going on" Strickland scoured parking garages from Sunday night to Monday morning before finally calling his parents.
"I told him, 'don't come back to the U.S. without a car!'" Strickland's father joked to the Toronto Star.
Police drove the teen around for about three hours the next day, after offering him a meal to compensate for his night of sleeping on benches, but he was unable to track down the car.
Strickland's parents eventually sent him back home on a Greyhound bus and made the Craigslist post in hopes that someone else would have better luck.
A woman named Madison Riddolls managed to track down the missing Nissan at the TD Bank Tower early Thursday morning and reported back to the Stricklands.
"I love puzzles, I love challenges and escape rooms, all that. I read a few clues about where it could be and it honestly excited me," she told CTV News. "Wednesday night, my boyfriend and I took his car out and we went for a drive. We started with every Starbucks with a construction zone and a bank nearby."
Strickland's father plans to send Riddolls a $100 reward, but also asked her to select a charity for him to donate to in her name.
The father joked at his son's newfound fame and said the family had no hard feelings toward their son after the mishap.
"He's a good kid, he just really kind of screwed up going into a big city not knowing what to do," he said.
