Stranded dolphin rescued from sand on New Jersey beach

July 13 (UPI) -- A New Jersey beach patrol shared photos from the rescue of a dolphin that ended up beached in the sand.

The Sea Isle Beach Patrol posted photos to Facebook showing the rescuers loading the dolphin into a sling and lifting it into a vehicle.

The patrol said the dolphin is being evaluated by veterinarians before being returned to open waters.

"Never a dull day on the beach! We don't just help people but animals too! This dolphin beached himself today at 49th Street and has now gone off with Marine Mammal Stranding Center," the post said.
