July 12 (UPI) -- A police officer in Maine helped remove a snake from inside a terrified driver's car on Tuesday.

Auburn Police Department shared photos of the snake and the officer after receiving a panicked call from a driver, who spotted the creature slithering inside his door.

"Caller has a snake in his car and wants assistance removing it...caller is afraid of snakes and would rather burn the car than touch the snake," the dispatcher said.

Luckily the driver was not forced to set the car aflame, as Auburn Police Officer Barnies arrived at the scene to remove the snake.

Officer Barnies posed for a photo with the snake, which was unharmed in the incident, before releasing it back to the wild.
