July 12 (UPI) -- Police in England are on the lookout for what is believed to be a wild boar that was seen roaming local streets.

Gloucestershire Constabulary shared a photo of the animal walking along a sidewalk in Gloucester on Tuesday night, believing it may have been a missing pet.

"Have you lost a pig? One's been roaming Westgate Street in Gloucester tonight," police wrote. "If it's yours, please ring 101 and let us know!"

Several people responded to the post, informing police the animal in the photograph appeared to be a wild boar that may have wandered into the city.

The Telegraph reported that wild boars had previously been spotted in the Forest of Dean, but this was the first reported incident of a wild boar potentially making its way into Gloucester city center.

Boars in the area have begun wandering into residential areas for food and have been reported to have attacked dogs, children and cars in the past.
