July 11 (UPI) -- Firefighters in Texas rescued a kitten that was found stranded on top of the roof of a downtown theater.

Historic Downtown Bryan, Texas shared a photo of the small, gray tabby kitten that was spotted on top of the Queen Theatre.

People first spotted the 4-month-old feral kitten on the marquee sign atop the theater on Friday night.

"We had people who offered to climb up and rescue the cat. We had someone else throwing tuna up there. I was basically on cat patrol all night," Downtown Bryan Association Executive Director Sandy Farris told KBTX.

Bryan firefighters arrived at the scene on Monday morning and climbed up to the roof of the building to bring the kitten down.

"We're not sure how she got up there, but we think she somehow made her way up a small space that's between the sign and the building," Farris said.

The kitten was taken to the Bryan Animal Center where she will undergo medical examinations and be placed up for adoption if she is not claimed by Thursday or Friday.

Farris said the Downtown Bryan Association has received multiple calls from people inquiring about adopting the kitten and were thankful to the firefighters for rescuing her.

"Thank you Bryan Fire Department and Bryan Animal Control for all of your efforts in rescuing the feral cat that was on the roof of the Queen Theatre!" the association said.
