Famed white whale Migaloo makes first appearance of 2017

July 10 (UPI) -- Famed albino humpback whale Migaloo has been spotted for the first time this year by a boat off the coast of Australia.

Port Jet Cruise Adventures posted a video to Facebook filmed by Ella Heeney during a Friday whale watching trip off Port Macquarie.

Jodi Heeney, owner of Port Jet Cruise Adventures, said it was the first time Migaloo has been spotted this year.

"I saw Migaloo a few years ago, but this was a way better sighting, and he stuck around for quite a while ... he wasn't in a rush and he was definitely more interested in us today. It was a special, once in a lifetime experience," she told The Daily Telegraph.

Migaloo first came to the public's attention in 1991 as the first known white humpback whale.

A second white whale spotted off Australia in 2015 was dubbed the "Son of Migaloo."
