"They say it's a bad omen to hit a bird with your car...but what about when a bird hits you while driving and then won't leave?" Arvada police said. "Our AMOs have a certain je ne sais quoi with animals!"

Schoepflin told KUSA the bird initially flew into his open window and struck him in the head before flying back out the window and sitting down in the middle of the street.

Schoepflin got out of his car to pick up the baby bird and placed it in the back seat where he placed a handkerchief over it.

The bird flapped around in the back seat before eventually landing on Schoepflin's chest, as he drove to a nearby park to release it.

Schoepflin made multiple attempts to release the robin back into the wild, but the baby bird simply kept flying back to the animal officer.

He eventually decided to take the bird to a local rehab center where it finally felt comfortable being away from the officer.
