Whole Foods 'chicken salad' recalled due to being tuna salad

July 3 (UPI) -- More than 400 pounds of "buffalo style chicken salad" sold at Whole Foods is being recalled for an unusual reason: it's actually tuna salad.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety Inspection Service announced the 12.5-ounce containers, labeled "buffalo style chicken salad" and sold at Whole Foods stores in Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York, are being recalled because they are actually mislabeled tuna salad.

The USDA said the affected containers were made June 27 and bear the establishment number "P-8827" inside the agency's mark of inspection.

The USDA said there have not been any confirmed reports of adverse reactions from people eating the mislabeled salad, but officials said anyone concerned about potential injury or illness from the undeclared allergens should contact their healthcare provider.

Customers who purchased the mislabeled salads are being asked to throw them away or return them to the stores where they were purchased.
