June 30 (UPI) -- A pair of Tennessee construction workers lost their afternoon snack when a bear stole a jar of peanut butter from their van, which had its windows open.
Allen Lester posted a video to YouTube on Tuesday showing the bear snacking on the jar of crunchy peanut butter after Lester and Dylan Hughes left the windows of their work van down while they were on a job in Gatlinburg.
"I heard the strangest noise and I looked around the corner," Lester told WBIR-TV. "A bear was beside my van cracking open my peanut butter jar."
Hughes said he was expecting a less intimidating animal when he went to investigate the noise.
"I thought it was going to be a deer or a raccoon, much to my surprise it was a black bear," Hughes said.
The bear managed to get most of the peanut butter out of the jar, leaving behind a chewed-up plastic jar.
"Next time we're going to roll the windows up, maybe take the peanut butter inside with us," Hughes said. "We learned our lesson, bears love peanut butter over honey."
