June 27 (UPI) -- A woman captivated the attention of subway riders in New York by casually feeding her pet raccoon during the trip.

Australian model Brooke Hogan captured video June 20 of the woman holding a plastic bowl up to the raccoon while seated on the uptown 6 train, CBS New York reported.

The woman casually conversed with other passengers, who took photos and videos of the animal, while the raccoon enthusiastically licked the inside of the bowl while holding it with its paws.

While the woman and the raccoon appeared to be friendly, many were still baffled about where it came from and why she brought it on the subway.

New York City laws prohibit residents from keeping raccoons as pets without a license and the city doesn't issue licenses for pet wildlife.
