June 27 (UPI) -- A man in England casually got off the ground and walked into a pub, moments after being struck by a bus on a sidewalk.

Surveillance footage showed the man crossing the street in front of the The Purple Turtle Bar in Reading, when the rogue bus struck him from behind and sent him flying 20 feet to the bar's front door.

Simon Smith only sustained scratches and bruising in the crash and said he was "lucky to be alive," as he was able to casually get up and walk into the entryway of the bar.

The bus' windshield was cracked due to the impact of the crash and it also knocked over a street side pole and left a large pile of debris in its wake.

Reading Buses said the bus driver has since been "taken off the road" and said the service is investigating the "awful incident."

Smith stood outside the bar, as people dressed in Reading Buses uniforms and other concerned passersby gathered around.
