Douglas County Sheriff's Office on Monday shared a photo of the bear that was reported to have been wandering near Roxborough Intermediate School. Advertisement "The bear is currently in a tree and will hopefully leave the area when it feels it is safe to do so," police said in the Facebook post. "We want the community to be aware and stay clear of the area for your safety and the safety of the bear." Police said Colorado Parks and Wildlife was notified of the bear's presence and monitored it for several hours. The bear was not seen as a threat to residents or students in the area, so no plans were made to tranquilize or otherwise forcibly remove it. Residents were encouraged to call police if the bear posed a threat after climbing down from the tree.
