Escaped 'newshound' hides from vet in newspaper office

June 27 (UPI) -- A Jack Russell terrier seeking to avoid a veterinary appointment ducked into a British newspaper office, where a reporter captured video of the unusual visitor.

Sophie Wills posted a video to Twitter showing the Monday morning incident at the Mansfield Chad's newsroom.

The video shows the Jack Russell terrier, which does not appear to be wearing a collar or tags, wandering around the newsroom with Wills following closely and attempting to interview the canine on camera.

"Excuse me, what are you doing in here?" Wills asks.

"Hello? Um, I'm going to have to ask you to leave, I'm afraid," she says while laughing with her amused colleagues.

Wills said she was surprised to see the four-legged "newshound" in the office.

"I was minding my own business in the Chad newsroom when I was visited by a fluffy intruder. I told him he was trespassing and asked him to leave but he refused to cooperate," she told website Hold the Front Page. "Cue assorted 'newshound' jokes from other Johnston Press staff and the suggestion I should get it to log on to the network and do a couple of pages."

She said the owner eventually reclaimed the dog, which had escaped en route to the veterinarian.

"It turns out the intrepid Jack Russell had escaped on its way to a vet's appointment and has since been returned to its owner," Wills said. "It was a welcome interlude from the monotony of wedding anniversaries and summer fetes."
