New Jersey police probe video of dangerous highway stunt

June 15 (UPI) -- Police in New Jersey said they are investigating video of a man with nearly his entire body hanging out the window of a car on a stretch of highway.

A driver on the Atlantic City Expressway in Egg Harbor recorded video Tuesday afternoon, showing a shirtless man hanging out the driver's side backseat window of a black Lexus SUV.

The person who shot the footage told WPVI the car was going at least 80 mph as the man clung to the roof of the car with one hand and did fist pumps with his other arm.

New Jersey State Police were notified of the incident, but were unable to find the vehicle.

Police said they are attempting to use the video footage to identify the vehicle's owner.

Authorities in California opened an investigation in March when a man was recorded executing a similar stunt from the passenger window of a pickup truck on the 15 Freeway in Corona. The video shows the man dancing outside the pickup truck while holding on with only one hand.

The California Highway Patrol said the man could face a seat belt infraction and both he and the driver could face an unlawful riding infraction.
