June 14 (UPI) -- A North Carolina family decided to celebrate their cat's 15th birthday in the traditional way -- with a feline quinceanera.
The Olavarri family threw a traditional Latin American quinceanera, a large party celebrating a girl's 15th birthday, for Luna the cat and documented the celebration on the feline's Facebook and Instagram pages.
Maritza Olavarri, the cat's "grandmother," ordered a cat-sized dress for Luna online and bought a crown-shaped Christmas ornament at Walmart to serve as the traditional tiara, KTRK reported.
The photos from the event show Luna in her outfit surrounded by balloons, decorations, food and proud guests.
A video posted to YouTube on June 8 by the family shows family and friends serenading Luna with "Happy Birthday" while she eats happily from a tin of cat food.
