June 9 (UPI) -- A Thai restaurant in Washington, D.C., was shut down after a passerby recorded video of mice climbing on the curtains after the eatery was closed for the night.

Melinda Burton posted a video to Facebook showing mice climbing gold-colored curtains at Thai X-ing while she and other passersby watched and expressed disgust.

The District's Department of Health said the restaurant is being kept closed while an investigation is ongoing.

Taw Vigsittaboot, the owner of the eatery, said he welcomes the inspections because he wants his customers to have the best-possible experience at Thai X-ing.

Vigsittaboot invited WTTG/WDCA-TV to bring cameras into the restaurant, where they spotted a dead mouse in one of several traps placed around the facility. No live mice were spotted.

Some have defended Thai X-ing, blaming the city's rodent problem for bleeding into his business. The building next to the restaurant is under construction, while the building on the other side hosts a commercial kitchen.

Vigsittaboot said the restaurant had never been shut down before in its three years of business in the location.
