June 8 (UPI) -- More than 100 pizza makers will soon gather in California to attempt to make the world's longest pizza.

PizzaOvens.com and commercial and industrial oven manufacturer Italforni USA plan to collect the master pizza chefs to prepare a 7,000-foot pie at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana on Saturday.

"The idea to bring the longest pizza record to the USA was initially conceived back in 2015 by Fash Asvadi Director at Pizzaovens.com and Italforni USA Ovens," the World's Longest Pizza website stated. "The project officially started in mid 2016 and a team was put together that include the heavy hitters of the pizza industry such as Tony Gemignani, Giulio Adriani, Tom Leehman, John Arena, Fred Mortati, Massimo Balacchi, Mario Vollera and Jimmy DeSisto."

Chefs will use about 8,000 pounds of dough, 5,600 pounds of sauce and 3,600 pounds of cheese to create the pizza.

Some attendees at the free pizza-making event will have the chance to try the finished product, but the majority of the pizza will be donated to food banks and homeless shelters in the area.

Guinness World Records judges will be on hand to measure the pizza and the equally lengthy scaffolding it will rest on.

"At-Pac Scaffolding [the company supplying our scaffold table which the pizza will be cooked and resting on] will be building what we believe to be the longest scaffold ever built in the world. So that will be exciting to see as well," Melanie Pacheco of Italforni USA said.

Food trucks and other refreshments will also be available on site for those unable to try a piece of the massive pizza.
