June 7 (UPI) -- A family of Canada geese in Virginia took a casual morning stroll along a highway express lane.

The Virginia Department of Transportation shared photos Tuesday of the geese and their goslings walking on Interstate 495.

"A family of Canadian geese decided to take the 495 express lane this AM," the department said.

The geese strayed near the median and away from the early morning traffic, but authorities patrolled the lane to protect the fowl from oncoming drivers.

"Safety Service Patrol and Virginia State Police kept them safe," VDOT said.
