Philly mom spends $25K on son's Dubai-style prom send-off

June 6 (UPI) -- A Philadelphia mom spent $25,000 to bring the spirit of Dubai -- including a camel and three tons of sand -- to town to help her son celebrate his senior prom.

Saudia Shuler said she had wanted to give her son, Johnny, a trip to Dubai for graduation, but that became impractical after her family suffered several misfortunes including illnesses and Johnny's father being murdered.

Shuler instead spent about $25,000 to give Johnny a memorable Dubai-style prom send-off, including three tons of sand and a camel to appear in his pre-prom photos.

Johnny ended up taking three different dates to the prom in luxury rented vehicles -- a Lamborghini, a Range Rover and a Rolls Royce.
