Curious great white shark stalks kayaker 'for several minutes'

June 1 (UPI) -- A kayaker in California captured video of a curious great white shark circling his boat for several minutes without attacking.

The video, filmed May 22 and captured on Newsflare, shows a juvenile great white shark circling a kayaker off New Brighton State Beach, south of San Francisco.

The kayaker appears more excited than alarmed by the shark encounter.

The filmer said he spotted the shark before launching his kayak and was surprised when the ocean predator followed him "for several minutes."

The encounter had a happier ending than a March incident in California's Monterey Bay that involved a kayker being thrown out of his boat when a great white shark attacked the vessel. The kayaker swam away from the shark and was rescued by a Coast Guard boat.
