June 1 (UPI) -- A Virginia sheriff's sergeant who's a self-proclaimed "animal person" has made his latest rescue -- baby raccoons found in the middle of a road.

The York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office posted a photo to Facebook on Thursday showing one of the three baby raccoons Sgt. Adam Cooper rescued from the middle of a road.

"Sgt. Cooper to the rescue again....He helped this raccoon escape a near death experience when he leaped into action like the super hero that he is and saved not a fawn, not turtles this time but 3 little innocent baby raccoons," the post said.

Cooper previously made headlines for rescuing an abandoned fawn he found on the side of a road last summer.

"I work here 'cause I like to help my community and I like to do what's right and I'm kind of an animal person so I couldn't just leave it there," Cooper told WVEC-TV after the fawn rescue.
