Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe May 18 (UPI) -- Authorities in South Carolina said a reported earthquake in Dorchester County was actually a propane tank exploding in the back of a U-Haul truck. The Dorchester County Government said in a Facebook post that no injuries were reported when the propane tank exploded Wednesday morning in the back of a U-Haul as it was driving in the area of Orangeburg Road and Central Ave. in the Knightsville neighborhood of Summerville. Advertisement Sheriff's deputies and fire crews responded to the scene about 11 a.m. and found the U-Haul truck heavily damaged with items including household appliances scattered through the road, located just outside of a Waffle House restaurant. Witnesses said the U-Haul driver told authorities he had loaded a propane grill into the truck Tuesday night and the gas was apparently left on overnight. A bomb squad was summoned to the scene to examine unexploded propane tanks that were in the truck. "With the assistance of the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, the DCSO Bomb Squad secured a safe scene for investigators and debris removal crews," the Dorchester County government said in a statement to WCSC-TV.
