May 12 (UPI) -- Ferry workers in England are attempting to find the owners of a missing cat found hitching a ride on a boat between two cities.

The Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry Joint Committee shared a photo of the black and white cat that was found on the ferry traveling between Devon and Cornwall with no identification.

"Does anyone recognize this cat please - found hitching a lift on the ferry this morning but doesn't have a tag!" The ferry committee said.

Ferry staff cared for the cat until it was taken to a veterinarian after it opened at 10:30 a.m. and it was determined the cat was not microchipped.

"Cat is not chipped so we are no closer to finding owner," the ferry committee said.

Staff are unsure whether the cat boarded the boat from Devon or Cornwall, so it was given a temporary home while they searched for its owners.

"Member of staff has kindly offered to take the cat home over the weekend if necessary," the committee said. "If you know who the owner is please ask them to contact the Ferry offices or Towers."
