May 11 (UPI) -- Officials at a Connecticut school said a sign that misspelled "entrance" as "enterance" went unnoticed for several months.

North Branford Public Schools Superintendent Scott Schoonmaker said the "North Branford High School Main Enterance" sign was put up in August after being made by an outside company.

He said the typo went unnoticed until he recently received a call from Chaz & AJ, the morning show team at WPLR-FM.

"When you get that phone call you never know what to expect," Schoonmaker told WTNH-TV. "This certainly was a curve ball, and one that, you know, you can't make up."

"I've probably driven by that sign a thousand times," the superintendent said, "but you're not paying attention you're coming and going."

Schoonmaker said the sign will be replaced and the misspelled version will be auctioned off by WPLR for a charity event.
