Netherlands zoo gorilla bird-naps baby ducklings

May 3 (UPI) -- A visitor to a Netherlands zoo captured video of a curious gorilla reaching into a pond in its enclosure and kidnapping a tiny duckling.

The video, filmed Thursday at the zoo in Apeldoorn, shows a group of gorillas watching the ducklings in their enclosure before one of the primates decides to get a closer look.

The gorilla, to the shock of onlookers, reaches into the water and grabs one of the ducklings.

The gorilla flees with the baby bird and ends up grabbing a second duckling as it runs toward its mother and siblings in the water.

The primate takes the ducklings to a nearby rock, where it starts to groom the birds.
