April 21 (UPI) -- A lucky man in Gauteng won more than 15 million Rand after buying two winning lottery tickets in the same draw.

The winning man purchased the two tickets using the same numbers from separate stores and both were selected as winners for the PowerBall prize.

The man, who chose to keep his identity a secret, said he has played the lottery since its inception and always selected the same numbers in hopes that they would someday win him the prize.

He said he bought the first winning ticket on his way to work on Friday, then forgot he made the purchase and bought the second ticket later that day.

A total of four tickets were eligible for the 30.6 million Rand ($2,325,796) jackpot and the anonymous winners two tickets earned him a total of 15.2 million Rand ($1,155,587).

The man said he will spend the majority of the money investing in his retirement, settling debt and compensating for damages to his property from the Johannesburg floods which swept his car away.

"I can now pay off the debt I had incurred for the new vehicle and also help those in need around me," he said. "My wife and I still wake up in the middle of the night in disbelief."
