Man traces 'ticking noise' to woodpecker on electrical box

April 20 (UPI) -- A British Columbia man who heard a strange "ticking noise" outside followed the sound to its source: a woodpecker pounding away on a metal electrical box.

A video posted to YouTube by user GrumpaDirt shows the woodpecker pecking away Tuesday at the metal electrical box on a power line hanging from a utility pole in Victoria.

"I was on my way to get a coffee and heard a ticking noise. At first I thought it was from the nearby construction just down the road. As I got closer I realized it was actually this woodpecker pecking at this box on the utility pole," the user wrote.

It was not reported whether the woodpecker was unlucky enough to be successful in its attempt.
