April 14 (UPI) -- A Florida sheriff's office shared photos of a wandering alligator that walked right up to the front door of a house in a residential neighborhood.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post that the alligator turned up on a Venice resident's doorstep Tuesday night.

The post included photos of the alligator standing by the front door and in front of the home's garage door.

"Let this be a reminder that not all reptiles show courtesy during mating season. Stay safe out there, Floridians!" the post said.

The sheriff's office included a little "#CopHumor" with the post:

"What do you call an alligator in a vest? An investigator.

What do you call an alligator on your front porch? Uninvited."
