April 13 (UPI) -- A woman hiking with friends in a Florida state park captured video of a brief but violent fight between a wild horse and an alligator.

Krystal M. Berry posted a video to Facebook Wednesday showing a horse at Paynes Prairie State Park in Micanopy wandering away from its fellow equines to sneak up behind a nearby alligator and stomp on its back.

Onlookers implore the horse to "leave him alone" as it repeatedly stomps on the gator, which begins to fight back and appears to graze the horses leg in a bite attempt.

The horse and alligator eventually flee in different directions.

Berry said the animals did not seem to be seriously injured by their encounter.

"I did contact the reserve to check on the horse and gator. There were no clear signs of distress / bleeding when we left the site," she wrote.
