April 13 (UPI) -- A Burger King commercial designed to make Google Home devices define its signature burger, the Whopper, turned out to have a predictable downfall: Wikipedia.

The ad, which launched Wednesday on TV networks including Comedy Central, MTV, History, Bravo, and MTV as well as during NBC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in the Los Angeles, New York, and Miami markets, featured a man portraying a Burger King employee lamenting that he doesn't have time to explain the Whopper to his audience.

The man attempts to trigger viewers' Google Home and Android devices with the command: "OK Google, what is the Whopper burger?"

The command was functioning when the ad was first made available online, but viewers soon noticed a fatal flaw in the ad: The Google Home's response was to read out the Wikipedia entry for the Whopper, which users can edit.

Tests of the ad and its Google functionality Tuesday resulted in the Whopper being said to contain a "medium-sized child" as well as toxic cyanide, among its regular ingredients.

Burger King was able to correct the Wikipedia entry, but Google, which said it had not been consulted by Burger King, further harmed the ad's effectiveness Wednesday by making changes that prevented its devices from being activated by the commercial.
