April 12 (UPI) -- A high school student in Tennessee took to the sky in order to ask his girlfriend to prom in an elaborate "promposal."

Ty Myers, a 19-year-old high school senior from Bristol, shared a video to YouTube as he leapt from a plane while dressed in a tuxedo and held a sign that read "I'm Falling 4 U, Prom?"

"Fallin for the best date to prom a guy could ask for!" Myers wrote.

He then parachuted down to a field, where he held the sign up for his date Katie Potter, who accepted his proposal as the two shared an embrace.

"This does not surprise me one bit!" Potter told ABC News. "He's the type of guy to go above and beyond, no matter what he does for anyone. Especially me, though."

Myers, who has completed more than 30 skydives, said he knew Potter, his girlfriend of two years, would attend prom with him, but thought the stunt was the best way to ask.

"What better way to go above and beyond than jump out of a plane two miles above the earth?" Myers said. "I felt that I had to do something big for her to show her just how special she is. She is the type of girl that would have been fine with a simple note passed to her, but this was something I wanted to do that I thought would mean a lot to her."

The two attended their prom together on Saturday where they continued their moment in the spotlight.

"Katie and I both enjoy getting out there and dancing and just having a great time!" Myers said. "We also were blessed to win prom king and queen, which was amazing and just capped off a great night!"
