April 6 (UPI) -- A man in England was surprised to stumble upon a ring-tailed coatimundi while out walking his dogs.

The man was out for a stroll with his pets in Abbeygate, Middlesbrough when he spotted the unusual mammal and called the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to help rescue the coati.

"Unsurprisingly, the dog walker got quite a shock when he stumbled upon this coati -- it's not what you expect to find in the North Yorkshire countryside!" RSPCA inspector Nick Jones said.

Jones said the adult male coati was uninjured, but was taken to a local vet where staff nicknamed him Razzle and gave him fruit to snack on.

Razzle will remain at the vet while Jones and the RSPCA try to find a way to get him back to his original home.

"He wasn't microchipped but we expect he's escaped from nearby so we're hoping we might be able to find his owner," Jones said.

The RSPCA officer said the strange call was one he would definitely remember.

"It was definitely one of the more bizarre collections I've had in my time," he said.
