April 5 (UPI) -- A traffic camera in an Australian tunnel captured the moment a motorcyclist collided with a mattress that fell from a trailer and somehow escaped injury.

Queensland Police Service traffic cameras were recording Tuesday night inside the Clem 7 tunnel when a mattress fell from the back of a trailer and landed directly in front of motorcyclist Aaron Wood, who was traveling about 50 mph at the time.

The video shows the motorcycle's front tire go over the mattress, which then becomes wedged between the wheel and the body of the bike.

"The mattress went under the bike and flipped me up onto my front wheel for about 50m [164 feet]," Wood told the Queensland Times. "I was lucky that the bloke behind me had time to stop and help. When I stopped I realized I had torn the grips right off the handlebars -- I thought I was a goner for sure."

"I have been riding for 20 years and never had something like this happen," he said.

Police said the driver of the vehicle pulling the trailer, who did not stop after the incident, could face a fine of $184 for failing to secure the load.
