Russian police probe viral video of man walking bear on a leash

March 20 (UPI) -- Police in Russia are trying to identify a man seen taking a leashed bear for a walk though Taganrog and roughhousing with the animal.

Investigators confirmed an investigation has been opened after a video posted to Instagram by user vlados_tgn showed a man walking the small bear, which was wearing a leash but no muzzle, outside of a residential building.

At least one other witness captured video of the bear, which at one point was on its hind legs and appeared to be trying to wrestle with the man.

An official with the Interior Ministry's Rostov Region Branch confirmed to Tass that an investigation has been opened and police are trying to figure out how the animal came to be inside the city limits without a muzzle.
