March 17 (UPI) -- A Hawaii man who went fishing in his kayak said he plans to steer clear of one area after he was stalked by a great white shark for more than an hour.

Leo Pagaduan of Maui said he was fishing Saturday off the western coast of the island when he noticed a big splash near his kayak.

"So when I look back nothing else is in there, so I when turn around and look my right, the shark is coming towards to me," Pagaduan told KITV.

He said he has encountered tiger sharks before, but he was frightened when he realized the predator was a great white.

"I saw perfectly that it was a great white. So I when try to call my friend with the radio, they don't believe me. I saw one great white shark," Pagaduan said.

Pagaduan recorded the encounter with his GoPro camera as the shark circled him for more than an hour.

"Sometimes even you thinking she not there anymore, then suddenly she show up, not even five minutes and she show up again," he told KHNL-TV.

Pagaduan said he doesn't plan to stop fishing, but he'll find a new area.

"I may go Makena side, or north side, but not that side anymore," he said.
