March 13 (UPI) -- A group of people driving on a country road in Australia stopped to help a koala that appeared not to notice the dangers of sitting in the middle of the road.

Braden Furtney of Ontario posted a video showing what happened when he and some fellow travelers pulled over on a South Australia highway to help a koala that was licking the white line down the center of the road.

"Rounding a corner on an Australian Highway, we were 'greeted' by this little guy who was more interested in licking the pavement then getting to safety," Furtney wrote.

The group used a stick to gently prod the koala to the side of the road, where it fled into the woods.
