March 6 (UPI) -- A British company is offering preorders for a "smart condom" that measures -- among other things -- how many calories are burned during a rendezvous.

British Condoms said the i.Con, billed as "the world's first smart condom," is actually a ring that goes over a normal condom to take FitBit-like measurements during a sexual rendezvous.

The device measures factors including calories burned during the encounter, the girth of the penis, the average temperature of the organ during intercourse, the number and frequency of thrusts, and number of different positions employed during a session.

The user can use the device's Bluetooth connectivity to download the stats after use and see how they stack up to other i.Con owners.

The i.Con is available to preorder for about $73, but the company has yet to set a firm release date.

"We are in the final stages of testing i.Con and we are aiming for general public release in 2017," the company's website states.
