Octopus tries to grab camera, latches on to man's foot

March 3 (UPI) -- A visitor to a South African river tossed a piece of sardine to an octopus that then tried to grab his camera before latching on to his foot.

The man said he was visiting the rock pools in the Cintsa River, in Eastern Cape Province, when he spotted the octopus in the water nearby.

The video shows the octopus wolf down a piece of sardine tossed by the man before lunging at his GoPro camera and giving the man's foot "a hug."

"I spotted this octopus hunting and threw it a bit of sardine that I had been using for bait earlier while fishing. The octopus was keen on the sardine, and then took a particular liking to me foot. Or perhaps it was giving me a hug of thanks," the man wrote.
