March 1 (UPI) -- A U.S. tourist's ill-fated attempt to jump over water to reach a statue in a Spanish coastal town was caught on camera by an amused local.
Christian Stefan Molocia posted a video to Facebook showing the man, who he identified as a tourist from the United States, preparing to jump to a waterfront statue a few feet from shore Monday in Alicante.
The statue, El Regreso De Icaro, depicts the character Icarus from Greek mythology.
The man takes a leap and reaches the statue, but promptly slips and falls into the water.
The tourist's karmic moment elicited laughter from numerous onlookers.
