Feb. 24 (UPI) -- A group of kindergarteners in New Hampshire gathered together to hold a wedding for a pair of ducks.

The two ducks, Plumpty and Pierre, were hatched in a kindergarten classroom at Weston Elementary School in Manchester two years ago and returned to visit the school several times before the students decided to celebrate their matrimony.

Principal Liz MacDonald officiated the ceremony as students stood in a line and hummed to the tune of "Here Comes the Bride" as the ducks walked down the aisle dressed in a miniature tuxedo and wedding dress.

"Today we are gathered to marry Plumpty and Pierre, who have been in love since they hatched," MacDonald said to begin the ceremony, according to ABC News. "Do you promise to share a nest, and mealworms and do you promise to keep other warm in good times and in bad times?"

The students were heavily involved in the ceremony, including writing the couple's vows, as they helped brainstorm the details for the ceremony.

"They wrote the invitations, they wrote to-do lists, they wrote the brainstorming of what was needed," teacher Marguerite Hopey said.

A reception was held after the ceremony as students celebrated the newlyweds by performing "The Chicken Dance."
