Feb. 13 (UPI) -- A group of University of Connecticut students decided to try sledding in a canoe, and the attempt ended in disaster for a girl who failed to run out of the way.

A video posted to YouTube by user Austin Frandino shows three students cram into the canoe at the top of Horsebarn Hill in Mansfield with the camera man sitting in front.

The canoe speeds down the hill and the riders soon realize the flaw in their plan -- they can't control their direction.

The boat barrels down the hill while the occupants shout for people to clear out of the way, but one girl is too slow and ends up getting hit by the canoe and flying through the air.

The canoe rolls onto its side after the impact and the sledders run to check on the girl, who Frandino said was not injured.
