Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Drivers in Vermont found themselves in a sticky situation after a maple syrup spill shut down a local highway. Vermont State Police briefly shut down Interstate 91 after a barrel of maple syrup spilled onto the road Monday afternoon. Advertisement "Interstate 91 north at exit 27 in Newport has been closed due to a maple syrup spill," police said. "Fire dept is on-scene working on clean up." No crash was involved in the incident, which saw the barrel containing the sweet and sticky treat fall off the back of a truck while driving on the highway. A portion of the highway was quickly reopened for traffic, as drivers were encouraged to travel slowly as crews cleaned up the area.
