Feb. 7 (UPI) -- A Minnesota man had a 130-pound tumor removed after being told he was "just fat" for more than a decade.
Roger Logan, 57, had the benign growth removed by Dr. Vipul Dev in Bakersfield, Calif., after it grew to the size of a small adult over the course of 15 years.
"We did what we had to do to get here," Logan told KABC.
He spent a large portion of his life confined to an electric wheelchair with the tumor dangling from his abdomen as it continued to grow
"Usually at home I would sit and it would rest on the floor," he said. "Never. Never leaving that room, never leaving that chair."
Doctors now believe the tumor was caused by an ingrown hair, but when he sought help in the past most told Logan he had merely put on extra weight.
"They said it's just fat, you're just fat...it's just fat developing there," he said.
Logan continued to research his condition and eventually found Dev, who was able to successfully have the tumor removed.
"We are very fortunate that we can do this surgery with little to no complications," he said.
With the operation completed successfully, Logan planned to enjoy the remainder of his time on the West Coast.
"I'm waiting on the tacos," he said.
